I watch the twin suns rising
Above the crystal seas
Refracted laser beam rainbows
Wash & dance over me
Frozen waves of diamond
Quartz & Aquamarine
Sparkle in the morning light
It’s a sight to be seen
And on the horizon, steel fingers point at the sky
An ancient reminder, of the civilisation that died
Before the fused glassy ocean
Encapsulated the land
Cities of a high-tech race
Did proudly once stand
But the people got jaded
And their leaders extreme
Until their fusion bombs melted
Their planet and their dreams
The few survivors, Of the nuclear fire storm
Set off out into space, to find a new world to respawn
GUITAR BREAK
Spectral coloured prisms
Beneath the crystal seas
Entomb the radio beacons
Transmitting their legacy
We were caught like a fish on a hook
The signal we couldn’t ignore
So we landed and departed the ship
The first men on these Sapphire shores
And as I watch the twin suns rise, above the crystal seas
I scan the horizon of the wastelands that lay before me
I dream of the times before, and the way it could have been
Of simpler days before the planet killing machines…

Into The Sea Of Stars
04:37
|

The starlight beams I bask in now are from a time so long ago
They set out on their journey in the time of Michael Angelo
And a super nova marks a Sun’s death as old as Jericho
Into this sea of age old stars Man’s almost ready to go
But first he’s got to learn to live, to learn to love, and learn to show
That knowledge of our past mistakes are there to guide and help him know
That in this universal game we play but a fleeting role
The future is a random number over which we have no control
And so we look towards the sky and dream of heaven’s secrets stored
Of worlds to win, and aliens, the like of which we’ve never seen before
we stand upon the launch pads with our ships pointing at the stars
With bated breath we’re ready to fight for what we believe is ours
Sitting here with my spacesuit helmet on,
The final countdown to ignition gone
I’m leaving everyone I know behind
Exploring Space for the future of mankind
Feel the G force pushing down on me
At light speed I approach my destiny

Starchild
04:29
|

Undisturbed
I sleep the sleep of the unborn
My foetal form
Frozen inside a steel womb
Product of a failed race
I float through space and time
Buried alive
In my cryogenic tomb
A decade is a heartbeat
A century a blink of an eye
A thousand years but a fleeting thought
As the sands of time flow by
Abandoned by the future
Rejected by the past
I hold the threads of here and now
Entwined within my grasp
Soon the day will come when I shall be born again
A new sun will shine and thaw my frozen eyes
Mother Earth will hold me in her arms again
From the ancient ice the sleeper shall arise
Starchild
Orphaned by the universe
Starchild
Lost inside a dream
Starchild
Trapped within suspended animation’s curse
Can you hear my silent scream?

Wings of Icarus
05:08
|

Engines ignited, roger control, hold on tight 'cos
Here we go
Here we go, we’re outta control
Earth spirals downwards, far, far below, the heaven's embrace us
In it's silver glow, like mercury flow
A Silver glow
Stars are a snow storm on my video screen, a sparkling helix of
Luminous green
It’s gotta be seen, do you know what I mean?
CHORUS
Icarus flew too near the sun, but the gods were against him, he was undone
His waxed wings melted, his power had gone
He might have survived
If he'd had his spacesuit on
Or stayed at home
Guitar Solo
CHORUS
Icarus flew too near the sun, but the gods were against him, he was undone
His waxed wings melted, his power had gone
He might have survived
If he'd had his spacesuit on
Or stayed at home
Our ten year mission, to seek out and find, new planets to conquer
We are man “kind”?
We must be blind
Don’t know what we’ll find
man is too greedy, wants it all for his own
it won't be enough ‘til space is his alone
if only we'd known
we're not alone
in this spatial zone
no, we're not alone
in this spatial zone

The Aliens Within
05:01
|
|||
They hide amongst us and you can’t tell them apart,
throughout history they’ve been here from the start.
Emperors & Pharaohs, Kings & Queens of old,
hidden within plain sight, the reptilians took control.
Driving our destinies, they influence our lives,
we follow subconsciously the plans that they contrive.
They live to dominate, through subliminal command,
our daily routines forever guided by their hand.
Chorus
They are the aliens within,
Invaders in human disguise, they are the nemesis of men
They are the aliens within
They hide their lizard eyes and the green hue of their skin
Guitar Solo
The last arrived on Earth 2000 years ago,
faking miracles with off world tech, indoctrinating all.
Within 500 years they had a base in every town,
though they wore white collars now, instead of jewelled crowns.
With threats of hell fire they coerced both rich and poor,
their coffers overran with gold but still they wanted more.
They formed the ruling classes, kept humanity on its knees,
when populations grew too large they brought war, death & disease.
Chorus
They are the aliens within,
Invaders in human disguise, they are the nemesis of men
They are the aliens within
They hide their lizard eyes and the green hue of their skin

Star Destroyer
05:28
|

He came down from the sky with destruction on his mind
He came down from the sky to put an end to all mankind
He’ll kill your planet and then he’ll eat your sun
The star destroyer’s solar feast has now begun
Star destroyer
Star destroyer
Spawned in the big bang at the birth of space & time
A living black hole, devouring all he finds
He feeds upon the stars, nourished by pure energy
And now He’s crossed the void, into your galaxy
Star destroyer
Star destroyer
Star Destroyer’s monologue
I have travelled an aeon to try and sate my hunger
It was so easy when the cosmos was much younger
I had only to reach out and pluck a star
But now the galaxies have drifted so, so far
Before there was time, and space, before your reality
My race existed within a singularity
Then the big bang expanded, my people were scattered
Those who did not survive decayed into dark matter
And now I swim the emptiness, the black oceans of deep space
Drawn towards the shimmering clusters, of suns I crave to taste
One by one the stars go out as I gorge on my arrival
The heaven’s loss is not my gain, just a guarantee of my survival
He came down from the sky with destruction on his mind
He came down from the sky to put an end to all mankind
He’ll kill your planet and then he’ll eat your sun
The star destroyer’s solar feast has now begun
Star destroyer
Star destroyer
Spawned in the big bang at the birth of space & time
A living black hole, devouring all he finds
He feeds upon the stars, nourished by pure energy
And now He’s crossed the void, into your galaxy

Ahead of schedule, we are entering the realm of science fiction, strapping ourselves into reclining chairs, watching screens fill with a planet that looks something like the Earth we remember, but less detailed, less hospitable. Entering into the spirit of things, we adopt expressions of heroic concentration and end each sentence with Over. Who’d have thought that dystopia would be so mundane? Who’d have thought that parallel worlds would be stacked so tight that there’d be no room left to breathe?
Rivers run black, and when we check the likelihood of a breathable atmosphere, the data’s inconclusive, winking digits demanding caution while confirming the lack of alternatives. Scans estimate a population of almost eight billion humans, but the only voice in our retro headsets, sizzling through static that blisters like boiling fat, is the Big Bad Wolf, suggesting last minute adjustments and promising a warm, warm welcome.
Sometimes the most important decisions come down to generic tropes and narrative expectations, and I momentarily consider a young girl running through a dark wood, a proud pig thatching his dream home, raising a licked anthropomorphic finger to test the weather; but we’re locked into our story like a rebel ship in a tractor beam, braced for a battle against insurmountable odds. We prepare ourselves for impact, exchanging steely smiles as the galaxy howls like a wolf. I wonder at what point I should reach for your hand.
So here we are, still braced for touchdown, still spinning at a thousand miles per hour, still blinking in the beauty of astronomical disasters. Gaseous clouds become nothing but light and distance. Crab and Horse Head. Cliffs fall away into the sea and a lighthouse performs its dervish dance, curling back over the horizon. The speed of erosion is relative. Bright points delineate neither archer nor goat, yet everything is connected in a manner impossible to understand.
Science, religion, superstition: we choose our metaphors according to momentary contingency. Cliffs fall away into the sea and the Great Wolf snaps at the Moon. Eagle. Seven Sisters. Beauty of shift and reception. Bright points delineate neither hunter nor dog. Out on the waves, a shadow of a boat. Arbitrary intersections of perception and belief. A meditation of lighthouses. Blink. Light and distance.
