Refracted laser beam rainbows

Frozen waves of diamond
Quartz & Aquamarine
Sparkle in the morning light
It’s a sight to be seen
And on the horizon, steel fingers point at the sky
An ancient reminder, of the civilisation that died
Before the fused glassy ocean
Encapsulated the land
Cities of a high-tech race
Did proudly once stand
But the people got jaded
And their leaders extreme
Until their fusion bombs melted
Their planet and their dreams
The few survivors, Of the nuclear fire storm
Set off out into space, to find a new world to respawn

Entomb the radio beacons
Transmitting their legacy
We were caught like a fish on a hook
The signal we couldn’t ignore
So we landed and departed the ship
The first men on these Sapphire shores

I scan the horizon of the wastelands that lay before me
I dream of the times before, and the way it could have been
Of simpler days before the planet killing machines…

The starlight beams I bask in now are from a time so long ago
They set out on their journey in the time of Michael Angelo
And a super nova marks a Sun’s death as old as Jericho
Into this sea of age old stars Man’s almost ready to go
But first he’s got to learn to live, to learn to love, and learn to show
That knowledge of our past mistakes are there to guide and help him know
That in this universal game we play but a fleeting role
The future is a random number over which we have no control
And so we look towards the sky and dream of heaven’s secrets stored
Of worlds to win, and aliens, the like of which we’ve never seen before
we stand upon the launch pads with our ships pointing at the stars
With bated breath we’re ready to fight for what we believe is ours
Sitting here with my spacesuit helmet on,
The final countdown to ignition gone
I’m leaving everyone I know behind
Exploring Space for the future of mankind
Feel the G force pushing down on me
At light speed I approach my destiny
